Sylvain Formo

Autism Director & Co-Founder

With more than a decade of experience supporting the Autism community, Sylvain brings deep knowledge, dedication, and lived commitment to their role as Director of the ORCAS Society of BC. He spent 12 years working with an Autism focused non-profit organization, supporting individuals and families while helping to build more inclusive and responsive community services. In addition, Sylvain has been actively engaged in Autism advocacy for over eight years, working to raise awareness, improve access, and promote respectful, informed interactions across systems.

Since August of 2019, Sylvain has also served as a member of the City of Surrey’s Surrey Accessibility Leadership Team (SALT), contributing to city-wide efforts to improve accessibility, inclusion, and equity for people with disabilities.

Sylvain’s passion is rooted in a clear and powerful goal: to create a world where people with Autism are treated equally, feel safe in their communities, and are confident seeking help when they need it. Through their leadership at ORCAS, Sylvain is committed to building bridges between the Autism community and first responders, so that emergency interactions are grounded in understanding, dignity, and Autism-friendly practices that truly support safety for everyone.
